We liked Donning this Mantle!

One Two Three
The first and second scene is a mantle we made for this 1790 home (Second Period by definition, but more Federal than Georgian**) and bookcases that surround it. We had moldings to match in the room, and tapped into the homeowner's creative spirit to come up with an appropriate design for the alcove bookshelves on either side.

The third photo is a new, zero clearance fireplace and mantle, in the same home, which we installed in a new Family Room addition, done with 21st century care to match the character of the original house...

It warms our Heart to have contributed to the charm of this Old House!

**One interesting aspect of this job: this fireplace was rebuilt with a flu from the basement when the home was moved in 1914 to accomodate a furnace for central heating; hence, the newer brickwork that is not from 1790. At that point, too, the existing mantle was compromised. That's why we got the chance to help.
